The
Camel Trail is a popular cycle trail and it follows the route of
the "Old Railway Line" to Padstow from Bodmin or Wadebridge.
There is no need for anyone to worry about bringing bicycles as these are
available to hire, quite cheaply, from Hire Shops near the start of the
Camel Trail. As the name implies the trail follows the river Camel
from the upper tidal part of the estuary at Wadebridge to the mouth
of the river where it joins the sea at Padstow. It is a very easy
ride as the route is only very slightly graded over its entire length The
journey from Wadebridge to Padstow takes about 40 minutes if you
cycle reasonably quickly. It is however far better to relax and enjoy the
views that abound throughout the entire journey. |

Padstow,
the home of the famous television Chef, Rick Stein, is just 30
miles distant. If you are thinking of a meal at Rick Stein's Seafood
Restaurant in Padstow then please ensure that you book well in advance
(maybe up to 6 months) or you are likely to be very disappointed. |

There are
many other popular Beaches and Coves all along the Coast of North Cornwall
that are well worth visiting but are far too numerous to list in this small
area. We have listed just a few that may be of interest. All of these are
within a radius of 30 miles from Palmers Lodge. |

Port Gaverne
(to view

Port Gaverne
is a small fishing Port which is adjacent to Port Isaac. It is very
picturesque, relaxed and tranquil with some beautiful headland walks.
The
Restaurant/Pub, known as the Port Gaverne Hotel provides a secluded,
friendly bolt-hole for that lunchtime or evening meal. The restaurant,
does get busy during the season. |
